For the second release of Macanudo Estate Reserve, we aged Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco in the French Oak barrels used to create Flint Knoll’s Royal Appointment Cabernet Sauvignon. Born of the 2019 growing season in Napa Valley, which was a warmer season with the perfect combination of early-season rain and warm summer days, Royal Appointment Cabernet is complex and fruit-forward with spice, ripe tannins and outstanding length. These characteristics are lent to the barrels for a unique and distinctive effect on the smoking experience of the cigar.
Aging tobacco in these French Oak barrels imparts nuance from the wine, making each expression unique to the year by which it was influenced. Those enjoying Macanudo Estate Reserve Release No. 2 should expect a cigar spicier than the original release, with notes of creamy vanilla, toasted almonds, dark currants and cedary spice.
